Institute for Livestock Nutrition and Forage Research |
IntroductionLivestock production in Cholistan and Southern Punjab is constrained by limited feed resources, poor forage quality, seasonal variability, and inadequate scientific evaluation of local fodders and forages. Sustainable improvement in animal productivity under these conditions requires region-specific research in livestock nutrition, forage evaluation, and feed quality assurance. The Institute for Livestock Nutrition and Forage Research at the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur, has been established in October 31, 2025 to address these challenges through an integrated approach combining laboratory-based feed analysis, controlled metabolic studies and applied forage research. The institute is equipped with a state-of-the-art animal nutrition research laboratories and a metabolic animal shed for in vivo nutritional trials. The institute serves as a bridge between academia and livestock farming communities by offering feed and fodder analysis facility, generating local forage analysis data, and delivering capacity-building programs for students and livestock farmers.
