Central Diagnostic Laboratory

 

INTRODUCTION

The Central Diagnostic Lab (CDL) of the Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur is located inside Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) complex. It is a platform in providing rapid diagnosis of animal diseases, identifying emerging diseases, developing new diagnostic methods and training diagnosticians, and veterinarians. CDL working is managed by Department of Microbiology under the supervision of Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science. CDL serves the interests of the livestock and poultry industry, animal research scientists, educators, and companion animal owners. The lab is seeking its accreditation from Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) and ISO 17025 and will be establishing its "Diagnostic Information Management System (DIMS)" to ensure the good lab practices (GLP) and confidentiality of the client results. CDL provides quality diagnostic services for all animal species, including necropsy of birds, bacteriology, clinical chemistry, serology, virology, parasitology, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology.

  • To utilize contemporary methods in the biological and life sciences to elucidate mechanisms controlling health and disease in animals and humans by the development of methods to diagnose, moderate and eliminate diseases.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

CDL is aimed to play a vital role in human resource development through organizing workshops, providing trainings, refresher courses and diploma courses for CUVAS staff, students, farmers, lab and field professionals and personnel from sister institutions of the country.
