Department of Medicine

Introduction:

Veterinary medicine is the branch that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, disorder, and injury in animals. The scope of veterinary medicine is wide, covering all animal species, both domesticated and wild, with a wide range of conditions which can affect different species. We understand the potential challenges and problems of animal health and work with our clients and referring veterinarians towards successful outcomes. The CUVAS Medicine team has a broad range of expertise, areas of interest, and clinical experience. The Medicine team works in conjunction with other specialists, including our species-specific groups in the other departments of CUVAS. Our team has active involvement in clinical services including disease diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive consultation for clients and referring veterinarians on animal health questions, concerns, or issues. Our clinical laboratories allow us to offer many assisted advance clinical techniques including enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, polymerase chain reaction, complete blood count and emergency critical care of the patient. The Medicine team is extremely active in clinical training and teaching of veterinarians and veterinary students with the most applicable and updated information. In parallel, it provides clinical and extension services to the farmers, animal breeders and commercial dairy and poultry industry as well. Last, but not the least, the department has a rich potential of conducting trainings and workshops for veterinarians, para vets, farmers, and different stakeholders of the industry.
