Biography
Dr. Muhammad Arif Rizwan is a young and dedicated Lecturer at the Institute of Continuing Education & Extension (ICE&E), a position he has held since 2018. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in “Computational Virology” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Rizwan graduated with distinction in 2014 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and later completed his M.Phil. in Clinical Medicine from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore.
Dr. Rizwan's career in academia began as a Lecturer at Riphah College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore, a sub-campus of Riphah International University, Islamabad. He then transitioned to the Livestock & Dairy Development Department Punjab, where he served as a Veterinary Officer for approximately 2.5 years after being appointed through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
With a strong research portfolio, Dr. Rizwan has authored over 15 research papers, with several more in progress. His primary research interests lie in the evolution and genomics of emerging infectious diseases. Additionally, he specializes in the medicine, diagnosis, treatment, and pain management of both small and large animals. He is an active member of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC). His roles at ICE&E encompass teaching, research, and extension services, where he strives to integrate modern virological techniques and innovations. He envisions advancing the field of virology at a national level, aiming to enhance disease control and prevention strategies across Pakistan. His ongoing efforts are directed towards building a robust infrastructure for virology research, fostering advancements that will benefit both the academic community and broader the field of evolution & genomics.
