Biography
Dr. Wasim Babar is serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS), Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2003, followed by an M.Sc. (Hons.) in Veterinary Parasitology in 2005, and a Ph.D. in Parasitology in 2011 from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
During his academic career, Dr. Babar also conducted collaborative research at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi. His doctoral research focused on documenting ethnoveterinary practices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, particularly for the treatment of livestock ailments, along with the scientific validation of ethnobotanicals for their anthelmintic potential.
Dr. Babar has actively contributed to research and development through his involvement in projects funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, from 2004 to 2009. He began his academic career at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, where he served as Lecturer and later as Assistant Professor from 2009 to 2018.
In 2018, he joined CUVAS, Bahawalpur as an Associate Professor. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he has held key administrative positions, including Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) from 2019 to 2021, and Controller of Examinations from 2020 to 2025.
