Biography
Dr. Afshan Shafi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Sciences, Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Science, Bahawalpur, since March 2024. Dr. Afshan Shafi is PhD in Food Science and Technology from University of Sargodha, Pakistan. She received a fully funded Indigenous scholarship from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. She has awarded two international Travel grants funded by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. She has published over 45 full-length original research articles in top-ranked international peer-reviewed journals with a total impact factor 100+, 13 International Book Chapters, 40 Conference Proceedings, and a research project of 5.03M funded by Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC). She is an energetic, ambitious food scientist and researcher, with the experience of 6 years as a Lecturer, 1 year as an Assistant Professor along with 7 years Administrative experience in ORIC at MNS-University of Agriculture Multan, Pakistan. Her research interests are in the field of development of Functional Foods to improve human health and focused on human nutrition specially to manage nutritional disorders with special reference to children and women. She has already worked on management of diseases and disorder like diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, obesity and infectious diseases through diet therapy.
