Biography:

Dr. Muhammad Azhar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genomics and Bioinformatics, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Dr. Muhammad Azhar completed his PhD in 2019 from University of Science and Technology, on CAS-TWAS President Fellowship.  Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Azhar field on intertest is genomics and transcriptional regulation of genome. His research work focuses the interplay between coding and non-coding elements of the genome to regulate the genome expression mediated via transcription and translation. He has expertise in omics data analysis, such as ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, Ribo-Seq, ATAC-Seq etc. He uses omics data analysis techniques to explore the gene regulation in developmental and diseases stages. He has worked on transcription factor genome regulation, non-coding RNAs regulating genes at transcriptional level.
He has served in COMSATS University as Lecturer for 4 years and as Assistant Professor for 3 years, currently working as Assistant Professor in Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He has authored/co-authored fifteen (15) research/review articles (having ~70 IF) in peer reviewed journals and two (1) complete books as principle and corresponding author. For his contributions in the field, he was awarded with Research Productivity Award for the year of 2021, 2022.

Area of Interest:

  • Omics data Analysis to reveal hidden molecular mechanism in gene regulation in development and diseases.
  • Datamining and Database Development
  • Gene and Transcriptional regulation
  • Customized Coding and Scripting for Omics data analysis
  • Database Design and Tool Development

Trainings/Courses/ Workshops
