Biography
Dr. Muhammad Uzair Akhtar is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Nutrition, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Focusing on his experience working in the field of animal nutrition, his research works concentrate on feed formulations for balanced nutrition using different programs, nutritional management of transition dairy cows, aflatoxins in feed and milk, nutrient requirements of dairy cow and buffalo to efficiently improve the milk production. Basic goal of his research is to improve the production efficiency and profitability of dairy farm business through precision nutrition. He teaches courses related to feed formulation, nutrient requirements and feeding management. He has several scientific publications in international journals in the field of dairy nutrition, including the well-reputed Journal of Dairy Science.
Previously, he has worked as a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He has also been a part of Nestlé Pakistan funded project, in which prevalence of aflatoxin contamination in feed and milk was estimated in relation to its effects on animal performance at more than thirty commercial Holstein dairy farms in Punjab. He has also served as a research officer in the development project on the establishment of research center for livestock nutrition and forage research at CUVAS, Bahawalpur. With DVM as a basic qualification and PhD in Animal Nutrition degree from UVAS, Lahore, he has overall more than five years of teaching and research experience in animal nutrition.
