He is a veterinary academic, clinician, and researcher with multidisciplinary experience in veterinary education, clinical medicine, infectious disease research, diagnostic laboratory services, and biosafety management. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, and his MPhil in Clinical Medicine from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. His postgraduate research focused on treating bovine brucellosis using phyto-chemo-immunotherapeutic agents. As part of the German-funded project Brucellosis in Pakistan, he gained experience in dairy farm investigations, epidemiological studies, biological sample collection and processing, laboratory diagnosis, bacterial culture and sensitivity testing, and RB51 brucellosis vaccine-related laboratory and field activities. Dr. Kaleem has contributed to veterinary education through teaching general and systemic medicine and surgery to veterinary students. His clinical expertise encompasses animal examination, diagnostic sampling, therapeutic procedures, reproductive health, obstetrical management, preventive medicine, and herd health management. Previously, he served as a Veterinary Research Officer at the Veterinary Research Institute, Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Government of Punjab, Pakistan. His responsibilities included producing veterinary diagnostic antigens, mammalian and avian purified protein derivatives (PPD), mycobacterial cultivation, and laboratory diagnosis using microbiological, serological, and molecular techniques, including ELISA and real-time PCR. He also contributed to laboratory quality control and livestock disease surveillance, particularly involving mycobacterial and other infectious diseases. His research interests include veterinary microbiology and infectious diseases, mycobacterial diseases of livestock, molecular diagnostics, diagnostic assay development, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, One Health, and preventive veterinary medicine and public health. His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter covering bovine brucellosis, livestock disease epidemiology, animal health, dairy production, and zoonotic disease control. Through his integrated experience in academia, clinical practice, diagnostic research, and biosafety management, Dr. Kaleem is committed to advancing veterinary science, improving animal disease diagnosis and control, strengthening laboratory diagnostic capacity, and promoting sustainable livestock production and veterinary public health through evidence-based practice and the One Health approach.
