Introduction |
Zoology is a discipline within the natural sciences that is multidisciplinary in nature, encompassing various fields of Animal Sciences. The Department of Zoology at Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences was established in 2018. It consists of nine faculty members: a Professor, an Associate Professor, and six Assistant Professors in Zoology, all of whom have earned their doctorates from well-reputed national and international universities & a lecturer in Botany. Our faculty brings diverse teaching and research experience in fields such as Paleontology, Microbiology, Wildlife, Fisheries, Genetics, Evolution, and Entomology. Our department boasts state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern scientific equipment essential for practical and research work. As part of a contemporary Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, we also have access to the fully established laboratories of sister departments. Zoology integrates a variety of subjects, including Genetics, Physiology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Entomology, Evolution, Paleontology, Zoogeography, Taxonomy, Freshwater Biology, Fisheries, Biodiversity, and Wildlife. This subject plays a significant role in human resource development, food security, environmental conservation, sustainable development, and poverty alleviation. Currently, the Department of Zoology offers admissions in BS Zoology, BS Biological Sciences, BS Botany for F.Sc. Pre-medical students, and BS Zoology 5th Semester intake for B.Sc. students. We also offer postgraduate admissions in M.Phil. Zoology, M.Phil. Fisheries & Aquaculture, and Ph.D. Zoology. Our undergraduate and postgraduate students have secured positions in various departments and have gained admission to diverse international institutions for their doctoral studies. We will soon be offering an M.Phil. in Ecology & Wildlife. |
