Department of Zoology

Introduction

 

 

 
Zoology is a discipline of natural sciences, which is multidisciplinary in nature covering various fields of Animal Sciences. Department of Zoology, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences was established in 2018. It consists of eight faculty members including a Professor, an Associate Professor, six Assistant Professors and all of them earned their Doctorate from well-reputed National and International Universities. We have a faculty with diverse teaching and research experience in various fields of Animal Sciences like Paleontology, Microbiology, Wildlife, Evolution, Fisheries and Entomology. We have well equipped state of the art laboratories with modern scientific equipments needed for practical and research work. Being a part of a modern Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, we also have an access to modern and fully established laboratories of sister departments. Zoology is a combination of various subjects such as Genetics, Physiology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Entomology, Evolution, Paleontology, Zoogeography, Taxonomy, Freshwater Biology, Fisheries, Biodiversity and Wildlife etc. Currently this subject has a significant role in human resource development, food security, environmental conservation, sustainable development and ultimately in alleviation of poverty. At present, the Department of Zoology offering admission in BS (Hons.) Zoology, BS (Hons.) Biological Sciences for F.Sc. Pre-medical and BS (Hons.) 5th Semester intake for BSc. students. We are planning to induct M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars in the Department of Zoology very soon.
